My Most Common, Funny, Annoying C Programming Mistake

484 Page Loads

Sometimes we’re totally pissed off trying to find out where we went wrong so that we can solve a particular problem that occurs. An annoying mistake in C Programming that I make over and over again just makes me laugh in the end when I realize it.

Well, ya see, I’ve been sitting here in front of the computer screen for a couple of hours already, figuring out what the heck is wrong with my source code that it just wouldn’t run properly. My eyes already hurt, they are already tired and they feel so abused, but I try not to mind my eyes coz I really need to make the program run as a practice for our midterm exam in ADVPROG tomorrow. So there I was, trying to change this value, that value, checking what necessary symbols I missed here and there. It took me a couple of hours until I accidentally glanced at my scanf (that’s the function in C Programming that stores the inputted value into the computer’s memory). I forgot to put an ampersand (&) before the variable where I’m assigning the value to! What’s so funny about that, you ask? Uh, well I made that same old mistake so many times in the past already, yet I never learn my lesson. Napakamot na lang ako ng ulo. And It took me hours just to find out that it’s just a single symbol missing, that’s why my program won’t run properly. AMF!!

This only proves that I’m not more than an amateur in programming..

I’m sorry if some of you cannot relate to what I’m talking about. I just felt like blogging about this… lololol! Okay I need to sleep now coz my eyes are complaining like aching monsters in my head. I haven’t even reviewed for our Filipino long quiz… waaah  I hope I’d wake up tomorrow without the cough and cold..

Haha! Dati rin, during our computer class nung high school, I needed to do something para ma-exempt sa quarter exam. Tapos super nakalimutan ko yung codes sa sobrang tagal ko inisip, hindi ako na-exempt. :] pero naka-100 ako nun. yikes. :] ampersand can be deceiving. God bless.
